Rankealo

AI Visibility Tool

AI Visibility Tracker

See whether ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Claude mention and cite your brand.

The engines your buyers actually ask

A brand can be strong in one assistant and invisible in another. Rankealo tracks the major answer engines so you see the whole picture, not one model’s opinion.

ChatGPT

The most-used consumer answer engine, where a growing share of product research now starts.

Perplexity

An answer engine built around cited sources, so citations are especially visible here.

Gemini

Google’s assistant and the model family behind much of its AI answer surface.

Claude

Widely used for research and comparison prompts by technical and business buyers.

From prompts to published pages

AI visibility tracking is only useful if it changes what you do next. This is the loop, from the prompts you measure to the content that moves them.

01

Define the prompts that matter

You start from the real questions buyers ask in your category (comparison, recommendation, and best-of prompts) instead of a keyword list. This panel becomes the thing being measured.

02

Sample answers across engines

Rankealo runs those prompts against ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Claude on a schedule, because AI answers change over time and a single check is a snapshot, not a trend.

03

Detect mentions, citations, and sentiment

Each answer is parsed for whether your brand is named, whether your site is cited as a source, and how it is framed relative to competitors, not just a raw keyword match.

04

Turn gaps into published content

Where you are missing, Rankealo plans and publishes the pages most likely to be cited for those prompts, so the measurement drives action instead of ending at a dashboard.

Four signals, not one vanity number

“Are we in ChatGPT?” is the wrong question. These are the signals that tell you whether AI coverage is actually helping you win.

Mentions

How often your brand is named in an answer at all. This is the baseline: if you are never mentioned, you are invisible to buyers who research through AI.

Citations

Whether your own pages are linked as the source behind an answer. Citations are the stronger signal: they mean the engine is treating your site as a reference.

Share of voice

Your slice of brand mentions across a set of prompts versus your competitors, so you can see whether you are gaining or losing ground over time.

Sentiment and framing

Not just whether you appear, but how: recommended, compared unfavorably, or mentioned in passing, so you know if the coverage actually helps you.

A prompt-by-prompt visibility report

Instead of a single score, you get a per-prompt view of where you are named, where you are cited, and where the openings are. Below is the shape of that report.

PromptMentionedCitedRead
best [category] tools for small teamsYesYesCited from your comparison page
[competitor] vs [your brand]YesNoNamed but no source link (citation gap)
how to [core job your product does]NoNoMissing entirely (content opportunity)

Illustrative example. Prompts and results are placeholders to show the report structure, not real data.

Why AI visibility needs its own tracking

01

Research is moving into AI answers

More buyers now ask an assistant before they open a search results page. If your brand is absent from those answers, you lose the consideration set before a click ever happens.

02

Rankings and AI visibility are not the same

You can rank on page one and still never be mentioned by ChatGPT, and the reverse happens too. Classic rank tracking does not see this surface, so it needs its own measurement.

03

You cannot improve what you do not track

AI answers shift as models and sources change. Without continuous sampling you find out you have been dropped only when a competitor starts winning the deals you used to.

Google AI Overviews are a separate surface from ChatGPT answers. For trigger, mention, citation, and how that differs from rank tracking, read the AI overview tracking guide. For mentions and citations inside ChatGPT itself, see ChatGPT brand monitoring. The rest of the cluster lives in the AI search guides.

Most AI visibility tools stop at the dashboard

Dedicated monitors are good at telling you where you stand. But a report does not change what ChatGPT says about you. Publishing citable content does.

Rankealo connects the two: the prompts where you are missing or uncited become a content plan, and the pages ship to your CMS. The tracking is the input to the work, not the end of it.

Common AI visibility questions

What is an AI visibility tool?

An AI visibility tool measures whether and how your brand appears in the answers that generative engines like ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Claude give to real buyer questions. It tracks mentions (is your brand named), citations (is your site the source), share of voice against competitors, and sentiment: the AI-answer equivalent of rank tracking for classic search.

Which AI engines does Rankealo track?

Rankealo samples answers across the major consumer answer engines (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Claude) because buyers do not all use the same assistant, and a brand can be strong in one and invisible in another.

How is AI visibility different from keyword rankings?

Keyword rankings measure your position in a list of blue links. AI visibility measures whether a generative engine names and cites you inside a written answer. The two do not move together: a page can rank well but never be quoted by ChatGPT, so you need to track the AI surface separately from your search rankings.

Does the tool only measure, or does it help improve visibility?

Both. Most AI visibility tools stop at the dashboard. Rankealo uses the gaps it finds (prompts where you are missing or mentioned but not cited) to plan and publish the content most likely to earn those citations, so measurement leads directly to action.

How often is AI visibility measured?

On a recurring schedule rather than once, because AI answers change as models update and sources shift. Continuous sampling turns single snapshots into a trend line you can act on, and flags when your share of voice starts to slip.

What is the difference between an AI visibility tracker and AI visibility tracking?

An AI visibility tracker is the product: a dashboard that samples ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Claude and scores mentions, citations, and share of voice. AI visibility tracking is the practice of running that sampling on a schedule so you see a trend, not a one-off snapshot. This page is Rankealo’s tracker (a product feature, not a free one-off checker); the tracking is the recurring measurement it runs.

How is an AI visibility tracker different from ChatGPT brand monitoring?

ChatGPT brand monitoring covers one engine. An AI visibility tracker measures the same mention and citation signals across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Claude, because a brand can be recommended in one assistant and absent in another. If you only need ChatGPT, see ChatGPT brand monitoring (/chatgpt-brand-monitoring). This tracker is the multi-engine view.

Does an AI visibility tracker replace rank tracking?

No. Rank tracking measures positions in Google’s blue links. An AI visibility tracker measures whether generative engines name and cite you inside written answers. The two do not move together, so you still need classic rank tracking for search results and a separate tracker for AI answers. Rankealo measures the AI surface; it does not replace a rank tracker for Google positions.

How does AI visibility tracking work?

AI visibility tracking works by sampling: a fixed panel of buyer prompts is run against ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Claude on a repeating schedule, and every answer is stored and scored. Each sampled answer is checked for whether your brand is named, whether your own pages are cited as the source, and how much of the answer space you hold versus competitors. Because each engine is tracked separately, you can see where you are strong and where you are absent instead of averaging the difference away.

What is an AI visibility score?

An AI visibility score is a single number summarising how often a brand appears in generative engine answers: the share of tracked prompts where the brand is mentioned, weighted by how prominently it appears in the answer and whether the brand’s own pages are cited as a source. A score near zero means the brand almost never surfaced in the sampled answers; a high score means it appears in most of them, usually early and with a citation. Scores are only comparable within the same prompt panel and engine set, so the trend over time matters more than the absolute number.
