Notion
Publish articles to a Notion database. You must share the database with your integration before Rankealo can write to it.
What you'll need#
- A Notion workspace with a database for articles.
- Permission to create integrations in that workspace.
- The database explicitly connected to your integration.
- Integration capabilities "Read content", "Insert content" and "Update content" enabled (Capabilities tab in notion.so/my-integrations).
Step 1 — Get your credentials#
- 1Go to notion.so/my-integrations.
- 2Click "+ New integration".
- 3Name it (e.g. "Rankealo SEO") and select your workspace.
- 4Copy the Internal Integration Token.
- 5Open your Notion database for articles.
- 6Click ⋯ More menu → + Add connections → Select your integration.
- 7Copy the Database ID from the URL (32-character string before the ?).
Reference: Create a Notion Integration.
Step 2 — Connect in Rankealo#
In Rankealo, open Integrations, choose Notion, and fill in these fields:
| Field | Required | Where to find it |
|---|---|---|
| Integration Token | Required | The secret_… token from your Notion integration settings. |
| Database ID | Required | 32-character ID from your database URL. |
Database properties: Rankealo finds your title property automatically (whatever it is named) and writes the article title there. If the database also has a "Status" property (Select, or Status with a "Published" option) it is set to Published, and an "SEO Description" text property receives the meta description. Both are optional — missing ones are skipped, and Test Connection tells you which will be used. The featured image is set as the page cover.
Click Test Connection. Rankealo verifies your credentials — you must see a successful test before Save Integration becomes available.
Updating credentials later
Secrets are write-only. When you reopen a saved integration, secret fields show “leave blank to keep existing” — only re-enter them if you are rotating keys. What gets synced#
When Rankealo publishes, each article carries:
- TitleThe article title.
- ContentFull article body as HTML (or markdown where the platform supports it).
- Meta descriptionSEO meta description / excerpt, where the platform has a field for it.
- StatusSet to Published on create only, if the database has a Status property.
- SEO DescriptionWritten if the database has an "SEO Description" text property.
- Page coverThe featured image is set as the page cover.
- Body blocksArticle body is converted to Notion blocks: headings, paragraphs, lists, quotes, code, dividers and images. Tags and slug are not set.
Slug, featured image, tags and SEO title depend on the platform and your field mapping. Each platform guide lists exactly what it sends.
Updates & re-publishing#
Rankealo tracks the post it created for each article. When an article is edited — or automatically re-optimized by Improvements — Rankealo updates the same post in place rather than creating a duplicate.
