Rankealo

Wix

Publish blog posts to your Wix site using a Wix API key with the Manage Blog permission. Rankealo creates a draft post and publishes it.

Only Wix account owners and co-owners can create API keys. Rankealo sends article HTML converted to Wix rich content (Ricos). Headings, paragraphs, lists, links, bold/italic, quotes, code blocks and images are preserved; tables are flattened to text rows, and embeds/scripts are dropped. Wix generates the slug and SEO settings itself — they cannot be set through the API. Deleting an article in Rankealo moves the post to the Wix trash.

What you'll need#

  • Wix account owner or co-owner access (required to create API keys).
  • A Wix site with the Blog app enabled.
  • An API key with the "Manage Blog" permission (SCOPE.DC-BLOG.MANAGE-BLOG).
  • An author member ID for the blog (Wix requires one for posts created through the API) — or a key with "Read Members" so Rankealo can detect one.

Step 1 — Get your credentials#

  1. 1
Go to Wix API Keys Manager (manage.wix.com/account/api-keys).
  2. 2
Click "Generate API Key" and name it.
  3. 3
Add the "Manage Blog" permission (SCOPE.DC-BLOG.MANAGE-BLOG). Optional but recommended: "Manage Rich Content Documents" (SCOPE.DC-RICOS.MANAGE-DOCUMENTS) for Wix's own HTML conversion, and "Read Members" (SCOPE.DC-MEMBERS.READ-MEMBERS) so the author can be auto-detected.
  4. 4
    Copy your API key securely.
  5. 5
Find your Site ID: it is the ID in your Wix dashboard URL (manage.wix.com/dashboard/<site-id>/…) and is listed in the API Keys Manager site selector.
  6. 6
Find the author member ID: the ID of the site member that should appear as the post author (Wix dashboard → Blog → Writers, or Contacts/Members). Leave it blank to let Rankealo use the first member it can read.

Step 2 — Connect in Rankealo#

In Rankealo, open Integrations, choose Wix, and fill in these fields:

FieldRequiredWhere to find it
API KeyRequiredGenerated from the Wix API Keys Manager with Manage Blog permission.
Site IDRequiredThe site ID from your Wix dashboard URL or the API Keys Manager site selector.
Author member IDOptionalMember ID of the blog author. Auto-detected (first readable member) when blank and the key has Read Members.

Click Test Connection. Rankealo verifies your credentials — you must see a successful test before Save Integration becomes available.

Updating credentials later

Secrets are write-only. When you reopen a saved integration, secret fields show “leave blank to keep existing” — only re-enter them if you are rotating keys.

What gets synced#

When Rankealo publishes, each article carries:

  • TitleThe article title.
  • ContentFull article body as HTML (or markdown where the platform supports it).
  • Meta descriptionSEO meta description / excerpt, where the platform has a field for it.
  • Featured imageSet as the post hero image, with alt text, when the article has an image.
  • AuthorThe configured or auto-detected member is set as author on create.
  • Not set by RankealoSlug and SEO settings are generated by Wix and cannot be written through the API. Tags and categories are not set.

Slug, featured image, tags and SEO title depend on the platform and your field mapping. Each platform guide lists exactly what it sends.

Updates & re-publishing#

Rankealo tracks the post it created for each article. When an article is edited — or automatically re-optimized by Improvements — Rankealo updates the same post in place rather than creating a duplicate.

Troubleshooting#

Cannot create an API key+
Only account owners and co-owners can generate keys. Ask the site owner to create one or upgrade your role.
Connection test says the key lacks Manage Blog permission (403)+
Edit the key in the API Keys Manager and add "Manage Blog" (SCOPE.DC-BLOG.MANAGE-BLOG). Read-only Blog permissions are not enough.
Connection test asks for a member ID+
Set "Author member ID" to the ID of a site member, or grant the key "Read Members" (SCOPE.DC-MEMBERS.READ-MEMBERS) so one can be detected.
Publish saved a draft but the post is not live+
Wix accepted the draft but the publish step failed. Open Wix → Blog → Drafts to publish it, or update the article in Rankealo to retry publishing.
